Racism takes many forms and can happen in many places. It includes prejudice, discrimination or hatred directed at someone because of their colour, ethnicity or national origin. It has been within all states and societies, including the European continent: people judge other people based on their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, skin colour or even values and principles that they believe in. People make jokes, negative comments, bully, hassle or intimidate or even physically abuse people because of „all those differences”.
Sometimes you don’t even notice that racism exists, because it can be hidden and invisible. This is why it is very important for the youth to be aware in the first place of its existence and not to neglect it, but to challenge it and contribute to its elimination.
In our third “European Café: Be loud but kind - challenging racism and discrimination in Europe”, we will talk about racism in Europe and how youth can contribute to challenging it!
To join the third European Café, please register here: https://forms.gle/NycaKtpJknksDFuD7 until the 25th of February, at 15:00 CET.
See you on the 27th of February in a cozy and informal online ZOOM meeting, at 15:00 CET.
What is the European Café?
This is an event where the participants have the opportunity to discuss a relevant topic about the present and future of Europe, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The speakers will first introduce the selected topic, followed by an engaging debate where anyone participating can share their opinion and discuss certain controversies or recommendations, based on the presentation made or external resources.
The purpose of the event is to bring together young people with different backgrounds and opinions, passionate about the given topic, about the issues concerning the future of Europe.
If you are passionate about the subject, then join us online, on the 27th of February, at 15:00 CET. You do not need to have a lot of knowledge about it, just join us, attend the presentation and let us know what you think during an engaging discussion!
To learn more about the event and how to access it, don't forget to register here: https://forms.gle/NycaKtpJknksDFuD7 until the 25th of February, at 15:00 CET.
The language of the event will be English.
The event is organised by the DO ONE BRAVE THING project, as part of The Shaping the Future of Europe Initiative which aims to bring together European youth, youth organisations and CSOs addressing polarisation, radicalisation, youth civic engagement and participation.
